Mindfulness & Meditation

Aug. 31, 2018

I don’t have time to meditate.

I don’t know how to meditate.

I can’t stop thinking.

I am too busy.

I don’t have time.

All of these are perfect reasons to sit with yourself, even if just for a few minutes.  What do you do to relax? What do you do to relax the mind? The later is a harder question for most people to answer. We have a hard time sitting with our own thoughts. The purpose of meditation is not to stop thinking but to be aware and not pay attention to all of the thoughts. Just as we do not say hi to every person that we pass on the street, we also do not need to give every thought our attention.

Insight Timer and Simple Habit are a few of my favorite apps to help you get started or even for the advanced practitioner.

I just wrapped up a 200 hour teacher training. Getting certified on 21 different types of meditation.  What a journey it has been these last few months! Digging deep in the midst of tragedy. Keeping calm while all goes up in the air. Then as it comes down, the calmness comes with the breath. Staying grounded and holding space. Ahhhh the feeling of complete bliss. The feeling of letting go. The feelings of non-striving and non-judgement. The feeling of acceptance. The feelings of gratitude and generosity for this beautiful like that we get to experience.
